#365greatmovies Day 182: “All of Me” (1984): RIP to comedy legend Carl Reiner. “All of Me” was his 4th and last collaboration with Steve Martin. I always hoped the two of them had one more movie in them… a “Lion in Winter” sequel to the “The Jerk” or something.

Years ago, I sent this picture and a set of questions (mostly about The Jerk). He answered all the questions, and signed the photo. This weekend, The Jerk will be playing in this house. May you bring your laughs to the great beyond.

Impossible to fully comprehend the influence Carl Reiner had. Directed 3 of the best Steve Martin films - All of Me, The Jerk, and Man with 2 Brains. Most TV comedy would not exist without him, for better/worse. Most importantly, a performer of incalculable warmth & humor. RIP ?

Rest in Peace the great Carl Reiner. His film work with Steve Martin in the 80s was a massive influence on me and has continued to create many a belly laugh over the years. #carlreiner

Yes, "The Jerk" is a classic but "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" is criminally overlooked. #RIPCarlReiner

Desperately sad news about Carl Reiner. He was kind enough to talk to me for my book and, even in his 90s, was a superb raconteur with a pin-sharp memory. Among his many other achievements, his run of films with Steve Martin have aged like fine wine.

Carl Reiner had countless credits but personally it's the four films he made with Steve Martin that I cherish the most.
